Dr. Feelgood

Formed in the early 70s, Dr. Feelgood were Canvey Island’s biggest stars of the pub rock and blues circuit.  Accomplished players, they centered around Wilco Johnson on guitar, vocalist Lee Brilleaux and, for a brief initial period, harmonica player and Stiff solo artist Lew Lewis.  In fact Stiff would not have existed without them – after Brilleaux loaned Dave Robinson and Jake Riviera £400 to pay for their set-up costs when they had the very first idea of forming a record label together.  Bridging the gap between pub rock and punk rock, and influencing a lot of early new wave acts, Dr. Feelgood are an integral part of the Stiff story.
