Nigel Dixon

Produced by Madness’ key knob-twiddler, Thunderbird (BUY 103) was Nigel Dixon’s only single release on Stiff.  It appeared in 1980 when he looked like he had it all – a cute teddy boy image and a tried-and-test track record on stage.  This had come from a stint with rockabilly crew Whirlwind who had brought Dixon to Stiff’s attention when they supported Elvis Costello and Ian Dury on tour.  He went on to work with another artist he’d supported, Paul Simonon from The Clash, when he fronted his band Havana 3AM, but passed away from cancer in April 1993.
