Ruefrex

Originally known as the Roofwrecks, Ruefrex were a small but notable footnote of the punk era in Northern Ireland.  If punk was a potent force then in 1977, Northern Ireland was the most potent place to put it and the band earned both acclaim and abuse from all sides with their firm focus on music, wildly evocative lyrics and a firm anti-sectarian stance.  No one track could sum this up more than Wild Colonial Boy.  When Melody Maker first heard the single they had no choice but to put the band on the front cover and ask, “Is this the most important band in Britain?”
